You can see from either balcony your private floating dock that is easily accessible as it self adjusts as water levels of the lake fluctuate up to 1961.50 elevation. Kayaks and paddle boards slip in off our dock or little beach area. (more shale with a little sand.) Many homes have docks that are static and do not function well ours. The dock is designed to work with lake levels between 1951 to 1961.50 feet above sea level. Summer full pool is 1959. Our dock has 2 benches for seating and a swim ladder. The dock has a slip that can accommodate a 9'x24' boat. (BOAT TRAILER arrangements must be made with me in advance!) The walk from the house to the water MAYBE LESS than Ideal for people with mobility or stanima issues !! Most people do fine, but please be honest with yourself. There are 2 walking paths to the dock The first is a fast direct winding 400 foot path and a bit PITCHY, the SECOND path is easier but longer. We have added a THIRD option of stairs to a new Lake Front Deck that includes a picnic table with a umbrella along with built in bench seating. At the dock you will find 4 paddle boards, 2 kayaks and a 3 person canoe. All with paddles and a variety of life vest sizes are provided, (for ages 4 and up) There is also a wagon to put towels and a cooler to take down to the lake or your private Pavilion. This cove is very private with only 1 other dock by ours and a total of 3 in our area. We have a nice Pavilion situated between your cabin and the lake it is: 16'x22' with patio pavers and 2 picnic tables, sectional sofa, electricity and a charcoal grill. there also is a Tether Ball by the pavilion and a ring toss game inside too. When it's hot and sunny, the shade and lake breeze is a fantastic way to cool down, while others play in the water nearby. The Pavilion also makes a great place to set up camp for the day. This cove gets FULL sun and some very nice sunsets spring through fall. There is a marina on the other end of the cove for easy refueling for boats and Jet Skis. Our home has an open floor concept on the main level and all of the furnishings are new. We have decided to share our food, spices and cooking oils because it makes much more sense. It will make your lives easier upon arrival finding almost any condiment you need and not having to spend money on items that get thrown out. We also didn't want to play the game of" hiding the food" as we come and go. Our cooking and plate ware maybe comparable to your own at home. As with many lake houses there are upper and lower kitchens, which can allow you to prepare separate meals if desired. The upper floor kitchen is the better of the two with granite counters and is larger too. Our home while not being fully handicap accessible is easier than most, it is possible to park your car on either of two levels and enter the home without encountering stairs. There are stairs inside and outside of our home connecting living spaces and the two covered decks. With a new stairway recently added to our firepit patio. The yard Is Not a Lawn, it is more like a field. We are trying to grow Local Tennessee wild flowers and Perennials and will keep adding flowers and seeds until the field is solid with flowers. When not on 1 of our 2 covered decks. there is a 20 foot by 50 foot patio area with fire Chimney. This older chimney fire pit overlooks the lake, the chimney keeps the smoke out of your eyes. There are 2 corn hole boards with bags by the fire pit too. Then there is the covered Pavilion which is much closer to the water and makes for a great place to watch the family and hide from the sun. It also makes for a nice place to coordinate lake toys and coolers going to and from the house. PARKING, if you trailer a boat. Putting in is a breeze, but I will have to make trailer parking arrangementsfor you in advance. PLEASE DISCUSS BOATS AND TRAILERS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL!!! DO NOT BRING THE BOAT TO THE HOUSE, I WILL INSTRUCT YOU WITH THE PROPER PROCEDURES. THERE IS A LIMIT ON VEHICLES! WHILE WE HAVE PARKING. THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF 4. THERE IS NO PARKING ON OUR NARROW ROADS AND THE ROADS TRUSTEE HAS A DRIVEWAY BY MINE. Also if you are a ATV enthusiast we are only to 20 minutes from the Doe Mountain Recreational Area and can accommodate those trailers too. We have electricity by our dock which can be used to recharge trolling motor batteries. (A must for fishermen with trolling motors.) While most people want the lake and nature, you can rest assured you will enjoy your beds, bathrooms, A.C., furniture and creature comforts. While you may not watch them, there are 4 flat screens, a DVR and PlayStation 4 too. Sometimes it does rain or you may want to watch the big game! We are 20 to 25 minutes from Elizabethton. our home has a western exposure and is located in the middle of the main channel of the lake. BOAT RENTALS are only 5 minutes and 10 minutes away. BEDROOMS- There are 3. The Master is quiet and has a Queen bed and and a Queen sofa sleeper. The second bedroom has a Queen bed. The Third bedroom had a double bed with a single bunk above the double. Beds sleep 7 and sofa sleepers have room for 2 more. We have our own high quality water well, so your safe if there is a power outage! But please be environmentally friendly help conserve water! Also most homes have septic systems, so please no feminine products in the toilets please!!! Also no cooking grease down the drains. Finally, this is a residential property, while you may not see many neighbors they do exist. This is NOT a party house, too many cars and a large crowd will bring the Sheriff and eviction without refund. Welcome to your private mountain and lakeside retreat -- new, peaceful, and located on the southeast side of Watauga Lake with full access to a boat ramp and small floating dock. My three sons and I are happy to host you and hope you enjoy this special place as much as we do. The three-level cabin was built in 2020, of hand-crafted wood and stone, with windows everywhere to let you take in the beautiful surroundings. It easily sleeps 8, with two king bed master bedroom suites, and two queen pullout sofas in the lower level and loft areas. There are three decks: one on each level and two that span the length of the home. The propane grill and fireplace are on the main-level deck, which wraps around to a front porch. On all levels, there are stunning views of the property, its ponds, streams running down to the lake, and the mountain ridgeline beyond. The main level boasts kitchen with granite countertops, gas fireplace, a half bath powder room, and one of the full master suites with separate spa tub and shower. The main level also features a Wi-Fi enabled 55-inch Smart TV. Upstairs is the second master suite, with its own private sitting deck, as well as a separate loft with a queen-sized sleeper sofa, and more views down to the lake. From the cabin’s quiet decks, you can see the lake only a few hundred yards away, and you have semi-private, full-time access (along with seven other homeowners in the Sugar Cove neighborhood) to the Sugar Cove boat ramp and floating dock. Bring your boat, wave runners, canoes, or kayaks! Watauga Lake is one of the cleanest in the United States, and affords multiple recreational opportunities, including outstanding lake trout and bass fishing. The main public recreational area is about a 15-minute drive from the cabin. For hikers, the Appalachian Trail crosses Route 321 about twenty minutes’ drive from the cabin and numerous other trailheads are an equally short drive away. Roan Mountain and one of the most beautiful stretches of the Appalachian Trail is a 30-40 minute drive south and 4,000 feet of elevation up from where the cabin sits at about 2,000 feet. You may not want to leave once you’re settled here, relaxing on one of the decks and listening to the creeks and springs alongside the cabin, which feed into a network of natural ponds and then down to the lake. But if you do, Elizabethton, Tennessee is a 30 minute drive west, and Boone and Banner Elk, North Carolina (including the Beech Mountain ski area), are about the same drive times southeast and south, respectively. On the eastern side of the lake, there are also two wineries, Watauga Lake Winery and Villa Nove Vineyards, and multiple larger marinas ring the lake. Pioneer Landing marina and campground, to the northeast, and Mallard Cove marina, to the west, are the closest to the cabin.

NO SMOKING -- NO PARTIES A private dock, for use by renters only, is a place where you can either dock your personal watercraft, use the canoe or fishing kayak provided, or a pontoon can be rented from nearby Fish Springs Marina or Lake Shore Marina. The Watauga River flows into Lake Watauga just a few hundred yards from Catfish Cottage which enables adventurers to kayak or canoe up the river for quite a distance. TVA controls lake level which is usually beginning to lower end of August. End of dock has never been less than 8'. This lowering doesn't allow canoeing all the way to the rapids. Fishing is great in Lake Watauga, and a license, if needed, is obtainable less than two miles away at Dry Run Grocery and Diner. They are also the closest for getting those "forgot to get" items. The middle (2nd) floor has the main living area with the kitchen, dining room, living room as well as a full bathroom that has a seperate shower and Jacuzzi jetted tub.  The views are spectaclar and it opens up to a large deck that wraps around to the front door and a seperate area with a 5 person spa.  The dining table can open to comfortably accomodate 12.  There is a gas fireplace on this floor surrounded by beautiful painted stone and a new 65" flat screen TV connected to high speed wireless internet. The lower (1st) floor has the master bedroom and master bathroom as well as a guest bedrooom.  Both bedrooms have brand new king size memory foam beds.  On this level is a large laundry room with full size washer and dryer, iron and ironig board and is where the life jackets and oars are stored for the canoe usage. The community is a small group of 12 homes in a section of the lake that is perfectly situated just 35 minutes from Boone, NC and from Beech Mountain for skiing in the winter. It's a short 2 minute drive to the community dock where you can use our canoe or go swimming.  Lake Watauga is a hidden gem that is over 16 miles long, surrounded by beautiful mountains and hills with the majority of the lake being in the Cherokee National Forest.  It is the first in a chain of lakes and is fed by natual mountain and spring waters which makes it one of the cleanest lakes in the US.  The views on the lake are absolutely spectacular year round and any size boat can be taken on this large lake.   There is so much to do near by with multiple boat rental marinas, incredible hiking, wineries and the Blue Ridge Parkway can be picked up in nearby Boone, NC.  Head out to catch huge lake trout on the lake or just enjoy the remarkable scenery and take a swim.  Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock and Beech Mountain are all less than 1 hour from our home.  Among choices explore several caverns and waterfalls within the same distance.   This is an excellent choice for families with allergies, as pets are not allowed. Given that this is our personal 2nd home which we often use, please respect the no smoking on the propery and no pet policy.  The short drive up the hill from the lake to our home is a single lane road leading to our steep driveway.  Always use care and caution coming and going.  We highly recommend arriving during daylight hours for the firt time.  In winter months because of potential snow we strongly recommend 4 wheel drive vechicles as our hill and driveway are kind of steep and plowing service can be spotty.  See our "Things To Do in The Area" page for a list of the many things you can do and how far they are from the cabin as well as links to all of their websites.

Welcome to Lakeside Cabin! This cabin is only a few miles (6 miles to be exact) from the NC line into Tennessee. It is about 30 minutes to Boone, NC. It is also only about 15 minutes to Butler, TN. It is on a beautiful, wide finger of Lake Watauga with a nice 2-story dock. There are nearby marinas (e.g. http://www.fishspringsmarina.com) who rent sailboats, pontoon boats, paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, jet skis, motorboats, etc. The lake is great for fishing, swimming, skiing, and more! This lake front property is a fun place for couples and families to enjoy the most beautiful and picturesque lake in the NC mountains. ***** The location is wonderful, but remote; the house does not have Wi-Fi. Also, we have confirmed that several cell service providers have no (zero) service at the property. It did recently get a land line. Finally. . . in winter, there is no snow removal service. The state maintains the roads, but they are not a priority. Be prepared to be self sufficient and capable to travel through winter weather. Situated overlooking a quiet cove of Lake Watauga, this secluded retreat has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, with a sleeping capacity of 8 persons. The house is on two levels with a large deck on each level overlooking the cove. When walking through the front door, the kitchen is on your left which opens onto a large living/dining area. You can see the deck (which has comfortable chairs, a lounge chair and eating table with chairs) through the sliding glass doors as you look through the living room. There are 2 bedrooms on this main floor--one with a queen bed, sliding glass doors onto the deck and an attached full bath, the other with twin beds. The living areas have an open floor plan with a fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, a gas stove-top/electric oven, a TV with cable, a radio/DVD/VCR player, wi-fi connection, a gas log fireplace and an outdoor gas grill on the deck. There is a second full bath on the main level attached to the living area. On the lower level there is the master king-bed room with attached large bathroom that has a whirlpool tub and separate shower and 2 sinks. Also, on the lower level, there is a large room with chairs and a futon which makes into a double bed; a bath with shower is a few steps away. Both rooms on lower level have sliding glass doors opening onto the lower deck. There is a hammock in the master bedroom which you can attach to hooks on the deck for relaxation and reading. The house is part of a small, secluded older lake house development with common lake access area a 5 minute walk from the cabin. Lake Watauga is located within National Forest boundaries giving the lake an 'undeveloped' character. It is known as one of the cleanest and most beautiful lakes in America. There are several boat access points (the Little Milligan Forest Service ramp is less than 5 minutes away) and three marinas with boat rentals within 8 miles from the house. Year round recreation opportunities are plentiful in the area with many outdoor guide services, kayaking and tubing on the Watauga River, hiking, Tweetsie Railroad, summer theaters, winter skiing and many other possibilities are located within a half hour to and hour drive. The Carter (as in June Carter/Carter family) is about 45 minutes-1hour away near Gate City, VA. Every Saturday night in the summer, they have a known musicians playing. Our property borders the National Forest. The peace and tranquility of nature surrounds you. We are located close to Watauga Lake with a path leading to the water. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk, (less than half-a-mile) depending on walking pace. There are three stretches of uphill terrain on the path walking back from the lake. The area is not suitable for swimming, however, a public beach is only about a 10 minute drive. Bank fishing is possible, but not ideal. A more preferable fishing area is located at the boat launch about a mile from the cabin. There is a bench that seats two which is close to the waters edge and overlooks the lake. (See updated photos of lake access area). DURING THE WINTER MONTHS fOUR-WHEEL DRIVE IS RECOMMENDED. There is one steep uphill stretch leading to the cabin. Many attractions are within a reasonable drive - There are many, many hiking trails, (mileage depends on which trail is chosen). Roan Mountain State Park is appoximately 30 miles, Beech (20 miles) and Sugar Mountain (27 miles) ski resorts, and several marinas, to name a few. Three large, detailed binders of information regarding local points of interest, hiking trails with addresses, websites, and phone numbers provided for our guests. Open Thursday-Sunday and located 14 miles from Paradise Peak. There is a book with detailed instructions on how to operate appliances, TV's, etc. Cell phone access is very limited or non-existent. There is a house phone in the living room. There is WiFi and satelite TV. The cabin is fairly remote so you may want to pick up what groceries and supplies you will need before you arrive. The closest (large) grocery stores are in Elizabethton, TN (18 miles) or Boone, NC (30 miles). Harris Teeter is only located in Boone, if that store is your preference. The Dry Hill General Store and Deli is 14 miles from Paradise Peak. It has some groceries and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday except Sunday, and major holidays. Rockin' W Country Store is about a five minute drive - they sell lunch (the best BBQ around). Rockin' W also sells firewood by the bundle. You can pick up a fishing license at both Dry Hill and Rockin' W. Dollar General is less than ten minutes from the cabin, where you can purchase a limited variety of groceries.

Another huge draw to the area is the proximity to the Bristol Motor Speedway. Everyone who likes racing loves the "Fastest Mile in Racing" which is the Food City 300. We are located around 2000 Ft in elevation so you can expect cool mountain temps with a gentle breeze. Autumn brings beautiful fall colors with even better views. In the winter time, skiing and snow boarding are enjoyed at nearby Sugar and Beech Mountain.
